The station with the big gains this survey and, looking at the quarter hour slots, it’s very much down to Pat Kenny. Breakfast did well adding 13% to its numbers and naturally Pat’s figure looks comparing it with a year previous. Lunchtime and Moncrieff could well be the benefactors of the large audience of Pat Kenny. George hook took a fall of 8% to 121,000.          Time Programme ’14Q1 ’13Q1 +/- +/- % 07.00-10.00 Breakfast  137 121 16 13.2% 10.00-12.30 Pat Kenny 114 55 59 107.3% 12.30-13.30 Lunchtime 70 62 8 12.9% 13.30-16.30 Moncrieff 111 104 7 6.7% 16.30-19.00 The […]

Ian Dempsey is still pulling them in and added another 14,000 this time around. Unfortunately for the station the next three programme slots all lost ground on the previous year with the Louise Duffy Show dropping 18% or 26,000,  Ray D’Arcy losing 10% and Tony Fenton 13% to drop him below 100,000.  Time Programme ’14Q1 ’13Q1 +/- +/- % 07.00-09.00 Ian Dempsey Breakfast  189 175 14 8.0% 09.00-12.00 The Ray D’Arcy Show 218 243 -25 -10.3% 12.00-14.30 Louise Duffy Show 118 144 -26 -18.1% 14.30-16.30 Tony Fenton 97 112 -15 -13.4% 16.30-19.00 Matt Cooper 157 156 1 0.6% 19.00-21.00 The […]

Lyric performance was decent this year up 10% and the stations programmes reflect this. All starting from a low base in the first place makes the percentages look very impressive in places.    Time Programme ’14Q1 ’13Q1 +/- +/- % 07.00-10.00 Marty in the Morning  39 31 8 25.8% 10.00-14.00 Niall Carroll 39 38 1 2.6% 14.00-16.00 The John Kelly Ensemble 29 28 1 3.6% 16.00-19.00 Liz Nolan’s Classic Drive 43 46 -3 -6.5% 19.00-20.00 Jazz Alley  13 13 0 0.0%

2fm_time

It’s a well documented game of musical chairs at this point where 2FM try and find a winning formula. The comparatives are weak in that case as the current programming is not the same as it was in the 2013Q1 survey with Rick in the Afternoon, Tubirty and Game On the only programmes that could be considered like for like. Nicky Byrnes’ show has an extra hour over last year, so the increase there is possibly inflated.           Time Programme ’14Q1 ’13Q1 +/- +/- % 07.00-09.00 Breakfast Republic 124 128 -4 -3.1% 09.00-11.00 Tubridy 148 159 -11 -6.9% 11.00-14.00 Nicky […]

News at One was the big faller in this survey dropping 9% (33,000) followed by Liveline dropping 8% (34,000). In the morning slots John Murray fell 12,000(4%) and Sean O’Rourke is fending off any advanced the Pat Kenny show is making but still back marginally by 4%(9,000). In the afternoon/evening Mooney was down 9,000 and Drivetime lost 7% or 19,000 listeners. So, in the programmes under scrutiny, only Ronan Collins made any gains.     Time Programme ’14Q1 ’13Q1 +/- +/- % 07.00-09.00 Morning Ireland 444 443 1 0.2% 09.00-10.00 John Murray 315 327 -12 -3.7% 10.00-12.00 P.K./S.O’R. 312 325 […]
